I just wanted to say a quick hello, introduce myself as I'm new to the forum.
I'm a long-time hound lover. I regularly read these threads for tips, tricks and opinions on hounds so I thought I may as well join.
I'm the lucky owner of a Foxhound cross. He's a rescue from Battersea. An irresponsible breeder sold him as a puppy to a family as a Beagle x Retriever. It's safe to say they got a shock when he kept on growing. For a load of reasons, primarily that they thought he could cope in a crate most of the day and that he didn't need any training, he was given up at six months and we adopted him when he turned a year old.
You'll likely see me posting about Alfie on posts about hounds. He's a good example of a hound that, with the right support, can flourish. He's gone from a deeply unsocialised and anxious dog to one who loves his creature comforts, adores his training and constantly surprises us with his learning.
