So the plan was to walk along the River Wye from Symmonds Yat to Kerne Bridge and back, which was 14 miles. However given the hideous weather recently and Otto's new found enthusiasm for walk, we figured it may not be the greatest idea!
So we walked from Cannop Ponds to Coleford, which is about 11 miles. Had a lovely walk, despite being absolutely sodden in the first hour! It brightened up and ended up quite sunny by the end of it. Otto is now shattered, and also a bit sore after he ran headlong into a wire fence
he's skinned the front of his leg and I'm guessing will be a tad stiff, but I'm sure he'll survive!
He was a very good boy.
Now for a tiny rant
When we see other people with their dogs under control I alwasy call back Otto to put him on his lead, he isn't reliable enough to walk all the way past at heel off the lead yet.
Today we saw a lady in the distance with several dogs, all walking at her heel, so we put Otto on the lead. As we passed her all her dogs swarmed on Otto, who hit the deck with his hackles up (there we at least 6 other BIG dogs basically on top of him!) but was not nasty, just frightened. The Lady then squealed at me to let him off the lead and that he would be much better off the lead.
Now I know dogs can feel threatened when on the lead, however, surely if I have made the effort (out of politeness) to put my dog on the lead, then it is her responsibilty to keep her dogs away from mine. For all she knows he could be a savage on AND off the lead!!
So Han, you can add 22 miles to the total (and Otto has contributed at least 30 miles on his own
)
I have a couple of pictures to add later, but I am trying to dry out and warm up first
