HGV sat nav

Round here the normal sat navs and AA route finder try to send us up bridlepaths so I got one called a pro nav. http://www.pronav.co.uk/

I've only used it about 5 times so far and it pretty good, you can enter height width weight etc and then have a choice of either main roads or shortest way (but it still keeps you off bridlepaths and away from low bridges).

I got a reconditioned secondhand one from ebay so it was only about £80

Road Haulage Association have one at an amazing price of £400!!!!!

Alternatively! For £8 you can buy an app for your tom tom!!!!

Sirius Truckmaster - my boyf bought one for xmas for me, when I had a whopper of a truck (although not HGV). It is suitable for HGVs and very informative. You can put in exact measurements for route finding, and has helpful things like low bridges, sharp turns, narrow roads and weight restrictions. Worked pretty well for me. Didn't find anything else that was suited to bigger vehicles. Not cheap but xmas is coming ;)

For £1.99 you can buy a map! Sat nav's are only good for the last 200m before that a map and common sence are the only way. ;)
Yes well said !!!people with sat navs stuck to the middle of the winscreen mostly drive like
Morons!! no wonder they are called Prat navs :D however it is fun to see foriegn artics stuck down a narrow lane or idiots getting in a mess because they are to thick to think about where they are or going... :D

I'm glad you brought up that point ....

VOSA and the police will prosecute any LGV driver who has their satnav within the wiper area of the windscreen

Car drivers will also get done for this but it is less frequent as they expect LGV drivers to be more professional/responsible

I think you're being a little unfair to sat nav users, mine sits on the bottom right where it doesn't obscure anything, I never look at it but i do listen and keep and eye on road signs at the same time and always plan and print out my route as a back up.

And before I got the cigarette lighter fixed in the truck one time the battery ran out, my eyes were off the road more than I like looking at the atlas I had propped open against the steering wheel and the directions on the seat next to me.

Hi there, AA here. If you would like to write to us with the details, we will gladly take a closer look to see where we need to make changes to the current route planner. We can be contacted at routeplannerfeedback@theaa.com
We look forward to hearing from you.
