I Have mine booked for 2 weeks time. Where abouts are you?
I would say go for a few trial drives with 2 or 3 different companys to see which one you prefer. Do some research on companys before parting with any money. I would avoid brokers and go straight to the triaining companys.
I have just spent 45 minutes listening to someone waffle on about there tests the do, apparently its some special 'horsebox HGV' course, it came to around £1299, which is a bit more.
I've not even heard of a special horsebox HGV driving course...
Its so confusing surely an HGV license is an HGV license they dont aim the test at horses?
It just feels everyone is out to rinse you of money, even the lorry I have bought I regret now as no one would help me come and look at it, the lady said i could drive it on a normal license and it turns out I cant.
I know im dumb but I dont know the weight of things, it looked about 3.5 tons to me... ahhh im such an idiot.
I have not heard of the horsebox course either. A 3.5ton you can drive on your normal license, Then there is the 7.5 then the class 2 (cat C). Im doing my class 2 it comes to around £1200.
Im going with a company over Maldon way Which is abit of a drive from me but I was recommended.
My lorry is about 4tn something, which means I cant drive it on my license.. which is why you might be able to understand why I thought it was around the 3.5ton mark...
Good luck with your test, apparently there is one in Godmanchester which is just up the road from me, will give them a phone tomorrow I think..
