well if i didnt have a horse i would agree with them but it is completely impractical for some people to dismount whilst out - Firstly - it is not good to get on from the ground anyway - most people use a mounting block so not to pull the horses back/ribs. Secondly its one thing riding the horse on a fairly busy road but how do u get off / clear up poo and hold the horse and get on near a busy road - it will cause accidents galore.
when I was wee there was a rammy between neighbours to collect the steaming pile left by my pony on the road. The prized 'pile' was lovingly disributed around the roses and we were thanked profusely for our biological output
. These days, its filthy [****] and the bairns might dirty their Gucci shoes in the nasty stuff (or come down with the plague
I can understand why people get so agitated about dog muck because of the health issues associated with it - and it is vile; but the muck of vegetarian animals just isn't in the same category - and is very useful for gardens.
Are the objectors the same people who get upset about cocks crowing and tractors and other rural hazards?
Helene Mauchlen from BHS Scotland said: "We are inches away from having a fouling fine introduced because people are letting their horses foul everywhere when they are out riding."
and how am I supposed to tell Frank he is not allowed a poo!
However if we were to be on a narrow path that wasn't a bridleway I would encourage him to do it on the edge so that people could get past it if they wanted to.
stating 'kicking it to the side of the road' seems a bit pointless too as surely they are normally on the side of the road unless riding 2 abreast.
However ridiculous it is I can see where they are coming from ie in some instances it may be better to prevent the complaints in the first instance to maintain the rights of access that scottish riders have
What are you supposed to do with it when you've picked it up?? Have you got to carry a shovel and a bag while your riding and then put it in a horse poo bin like they have for dogs??

If this was the case I would need to be followed by a JCB!! Can't believe this, theres no way I would want to get off my horse on a busy road to do this. I don't ride on pavements as I know he would leave a pile! Is this more about by-ways and tracks? Even so, there's nothing too bad about horse poo - not in the countryside anyway. What about footpaths through cow fields?
Our access to cycle paths is reliant on us either managing to get the horse to go to the loo on the verge or getiing off and kicking it to the side. I dont mind doing this as there are several places to get back on and no concerns re traffic etc but i wouldnt be willing to do it on the road! This is going to force riding to become an elite sport only open to those with transport who can get to toll rides or competitions, and there are many, including myself, who cannot afford this

Are we ment to carry a spade while out riding!!!!!
I have never hear so much utter [****] in all my days

dont be daft woman-a spade would look silly tied to your saddle and would be dangerous at trot. You scoop it up and put it in your pocket! Simple, isnt it?

Can just see the cars round our way stopping to let you pick up a poo!!Not!They don't even stop if theres a loose horse on road -- they go round!!
Just not practical at all.Can see hacking becoming a thing of the past
Maybe we could carry huge plastic bags to put it all in and add them to landfills where they could take a few decades to break down!! That'll keep everything clean
our hacking is all in the grounds of a stately house-in england- and you can even hack right up to the door of the castle thru the visitors etc and your horse can basically almost poo on there door step and the owners don't care. they realise they earn an income from the annual pass fee we pay so are very accomodating-obviously we don't make a habit of marching up to their front door but they are very understanding-hence i find this article bit odd really!!! wtf are you supposed to do!!!!!

This is fair enough if it allows you acces to cycle paths, I suppose a huge pile is difficult to cycle through!! But very silly and unworkable in other circumstances.
