HHO to conservative nowadays?

I just wondered what everyone else thought...

Is HHO to conservative, we never seem to be able to fully express/vent our views. OK so we have the current 'slaughter house' and 'my colt isn't coloured so I'm selling it' threads but we never seem to be able to have a contraversial thread and really speak our minds on here without being chastised by TFC or even banned. We live in a world and partake in a spot/hobby/lifestyle that is full of different opinions and approaches, why can't we talk about dealers, training methods, franch rescue, voice our opinions on other peoples approaches and be allowed to do it as if we were in the real world.

More and more, I am finding HHO and especially NL uninspiring, not because I want to have a go at people but because I love a good challenge and debate, expressing my views and arguing them is enjoyable.

I am sick and tired of following threads that keep getting pulled or bumped to another forum. I got really narked when following starzaans threads that kept getting bumped and I suspect she did too, since she rarely posts on here anymore.

It would seem that whether you are serious, critical, tongue in cheek, or simply fun you can't relax on HHO anymore. Many of the people that were on her whose threads I enjoyed reading are now gone, seems they have given up on HHO for being to stagnant nowadays.

Bet this gets moved to soap box!
 
Yup.

People are voting with their fingers and going to other forums, me included :(. I come on here as it was 'home' through all sorts of yuck and for that I will always be grateful, but now, well, now it's not the same.

New people will come in and they will know it as it is and no doubt will be happy and stay or feel it's not for them and move along.

i feel like im tip toeing on egg shells in this forum. i say one thing and someone takes it as another. and people judge you! but to be fair, ive made alot of friends on this forum, some of which ive met so i wont leave :)
 
I agree, I think one thing I've learnt is to never be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. I think healthy debate is good because it educates both parties- we both see one another's points and questions are raised which we may not think of. It's such a useful tool.



''Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about the things that matter'' I'm quite notorious on other forums for being the black sheep, my views on things are quite different to most, I shan't go into it on this thread, but I get condemned for being a ''pansie'' or ''not respecting competition riders'' or ''because I'm not a GP rider, I have no say'', and it used to knock me down, but I suppose you have to respect peoples views but never EVER be afraid to take or give advice and criticism, it's what makes a healthy mind!
 
I think Franch-gate was the final straw - that and moving to a new format with 24hour moderation. Anyone else remember the friday night explosions that carried on all weekend with tellings off all round on monday morning? :D
 
There are ways to express your opinions, without breaking T&Cs. You can even be rude to people without calling them idiots (or similar) and still be within T&Cs.
The trouble seems to be that some people find it difficult to do so. It is a skill that many teachers, in particular, possess and that many other HHO users would do well to develop. Then debates would be lively and opinionated, on both, or all sides, without the moderator having any reason to pull a thread or ban a poster.
I do think that the only way to avoid a thread being moved is to post it in the right place to start with. I would, however, like photo threads to be allowed in NL, if the subject matter is suitable and can't actually work out why some are and some are moved.

Totally agree with the above!

There are 900+ people on here tonight, so its still pretty popular. I've nothing against a good debate, but can't bear bad manners - they usually get in the way of a good debate anyway!

I've never understood why people got so upset about having threads that weren't horsey moved to Soapbox. I go in there lots. If a thread disappears its not rocket science to work out where it went! If its pictures, it went to the picture threads bit, if its not horsey, it went to the CR...
 
There's no way it's as much fun or as friendly as it used to be. I've made some very good friends in real life because of here, I'm grateful for that but many of them don't come on here any longer as the heart's gone out of it and it's gone far too sugar coated now. TBF though, one thing though is, whether it's true or not, TFC always tells you that 'the guilty post/thread' had been brought to their notice by someone else, not that they were checking things themselves but they are obliged to act 'conservatively!' if anything is brought to their attention.
