My friend is currently transporting her mare to the equine clinic for surgery. The vet suspects she has a twisted gut. So any get well vibes will be appreciated.
Fingers crossed. My boy has been at the vets for 6 weeks due to a fractured leg and we have seen lots and lots of colic cases / operations while we have been there. Touch wood every one has been fine afterwards so think positive xx
Lots and Lots of vibes and positive thoughts from me and Dina.
Dina had colic surgery in September when she was 3 months pregnant. she had 3 foot of bowel resected, due to 2 abcesses, a perforation and peritonitis, all caused by swallowing a thin piece of wire. She has done lots and lots of box rest, lost a lot of weight and put it all back on again (too much maybe), has been allowed turnout in a small paddock, is back on her normal feeds, and is now nearly 7 months in foal. (Amazingly she kept it, despite being at deaths door)
Tell your friend to stay positive, the vets can do amazing things. Its a massive massive worry and not something I ever want to have to go through again. Please point her in the direction of this post, or get her to PM me if she wants a bit of moral support.
