Just started riding last December at the age of 51. Many reasons for starting riding :-
1. Always wanted to ride horses.
2. An activity you can enjoy no matter what your age.
2. Enjoy watching western movies.
2. Good for mental state being around animals.
Not been thrown off horse yet, however I wear full body protection in case this happens.

I'm learning to ride at an equestrian riding school, there are no western riding schools in the UK (I don't think).
Its been a huge learning experience. On my last lesson I tried cantering which was good fun. When cantering its important to keep the upper body straight so you don't lose balance and also to keep the reins short.

There are a handful of places for Western riding lessons in England. They are scattered about a bit and geography is not my strong point.

Tammy Greaves, Burley Villa

Oakridge Quarter Horses, Nottingham

Sovereign Quarter Horses, Cambridgeshire

Off the top of my head but there are a few others.

Good luck, hope you keep enjoying it ?
