Does anyone use Dengi HiFi as a hay replacer / addition to hay.

I currently use it as 'chaff' in my horses feed, but am looking at ways of getting and keeping weight on my TB this winter and though it might be worth a try.

He has ad-lib hay and I give him a huge bucket of redi grass every night, but that seems to be making him a bit fizzy.

I tried it once as a hay replacer for a really piggy Arab who could eat faster than a waste disposal. I hoped it might mean he had something to munch for rather longer overnight (he could eat a stuffed to the gills large net of hay in less than an hour!)
I gave up though as I found he was eating something like 2/3 of a bag in a night - too expensive, I'm afraid. Perhaps cut out the Redi-grass?????

Yes my friend has a semi retired Id x and she uses the Good Doer version in his feed and at night he gets a small net and a bucket of the good doer. She does it to keep his weight down but its th same principle.

We also have an old boy who has it because he can't eat hay and he manages to keep the weight on even during winter, and he's well into his twenties

I have been giving him hage actually but in the last week he's been leaving it. I'm wondering if it was just a dodgy bale as he's a picky old thing - so might try again next week!

I was just thinking of giving him his hay as normal and also a large bucket of redi grass / hi fi mixed ..
