They are so cheap, as saddles go, that I wonder whether they are too good to be true!

I'm looking to buy a cheap in price but not in fit dressage saddle as a second saddle.

Anyone any experience of these or have any recommendations for a limited budget?

What are your saddle requirements? Size etc....

hi lite saddles are brilliant!!

my pony wears a hi lite elite gp saddle and it adjusts to his shape and rider weight/position as it has hinge type fittings inside. havent had experience with hi lite dressage saddles but i would have thought they would be just as good!

I bought one for Castle a few years ago, just to use every now and then for flatwork... I bought mine new but they were a different style back then. For the price it was fine and it fitted him quite well but IMO you are much better off buying a decent second hand leather saddle...

I would never buy another synthetic saddle ever again(unless they make some serious changes!). I had a fitted one for my youngster, which was fine whilst she was in light work and the adjustable fit was great for a baba.
But when we started doing more work, the tree (as they are all made with plastic - looks like a giant spoon!) has so little bend in it and does not move with the horse, it made her back really sore & tender.

She now has a fitted leather saddle and simply due to the tree being tradtional she moves fantastic and it is very comfortable for her and me!

You do not have to go brand new....... I know even used leather saddles are expensive but they do hold value and are far far better for the horse. Also, they have a lot longer life span than synthetics.

Her GP saddle is a leather 17.5". She needs a fairly wide gullet as she has a boney nodule on her spine (not problematic, just the way she is made!) and so it needs to be wide enough to clear it.

The budget is as little as possible and the only reason I am looking at these is because the Buy It Now price on Ebay is only £90 and second hand ones much much cheaper. I would always choose leather over synthetic normally but it will get so little use.
