Hi, we do showing alot, but not with dainty TB's lol! welsh cobs are our things..so...
We were thinking,...as we go to alot of shows, wede thought wede drag my younsgter round with us while we are not doing eventing, xc,sj etc just for fun and for her to get out a bit. We were thinking ~(just at local level) to do WH, riding club horse, small hunter and hack classes. Could you please have a look at this photo (*not currently in tip top condiiton) and tell me what quarter marks to put on her in both WH and small hunter/hack please??
any tips for enhancing her looks would help ta!
p.s bare in mind only local level so she doesnt have to have the bone and look like county levelers do lol!

For hunters I understand that you use straight bars and nothing any more fancy on the quarters. FMM is the expert on the forum.

For riding horse/hack you can have sharks teeth and quarter marks - triangles, squares etc.

If you horse does not have a good backside, just use straight simple bars to make it look broader and avoid sharks teeth which will draw the eye to a weak rear end.

When I used to show my TBs in classes other than hunters, I used squares and shark's teeth. I used hair spray to lay the hair down first then make the marks with a comb. With my first TB I used big squares and she had a large backside and with Miss Delia, small squares as she was finer built.

Practice makes perfect - I spent ages at home doing them and experiementing to see what looked best on them.

If it's a M&M you have to show it as a M&M in all classes. Ie no quarter marks, no plaits etc. If it looks more like, say, a hack or hunter (ie not so much bone) then you might get away with showing it as such.
