Hi-vis and colour of your horse?

Reading the Hi-Vis thread had me wondering.

Do you wear hi-vis?
Is your horse a dark or light colour?

My horse is grey, so I always have a tabard on and she's not comfortable in brushing boots so I generally don't have hi-vis on her (I did have a martingale but she stood on it and ripped it).

When my other one goes out on the road, because she's bay, she will have hi-vis on.

Hacking also means lots of road-work for us.

Hi-vis vest on me, and a hi-viz ribbon around their tails. Ones bay the others chesnut. I never go out when its dark though

Yes, I wear hi-viz regardless of the colour of the horse I am riding.
The colour of the horse is not going to help if you have tipped off into the scenery & you are wearing muted colours.
Hi-Viz will still show up before the horse itself - regardless of the horses colour.

However, you have no poll option for: 'My horse is a light and a dark colour'

I had that problem too, as he is tri coloured I did light and dark colour on the poll

Yellow on him martingale thing, on stirrups and either wraps on back legs or a tail thing, I wear yellow or pink depending and his winter exercise sheet is orange!

People have said the orange is the most visible on us but harder to find in the accessory items!

Black horse and high vis on both me and him - yellow. Drivers have no excuse that they can't see us and it does slow them down (mostly - apart from idiots).

My horses are bay and chestnut.

My hi-viz is a 'railway orange' polo shirt and trousers Their hi-viz is a yellow tail guard and ex sheet, although I have just ordered some leg wraps and bridle cover for them.

I always have high viz on me and in the winter my horse will wear his high viz sheet as well. I have wee bits of high viz stuff for him to wear in summer (leg bands, saddle / bridle attachments) but on short hacks I rarely get around to putting these on - sheer laziness.

my horse is a ginge so i wasnt really sure if he was classed as dark or light so i put light i always wear hi-vis yellow and pink usually not masses in the summer but quite a large amount in the winter and also flashing lights

I always wear hi viz on the roads.. Waistcoat, hat band and gloves..

That's with 5 bays, an appy, two dun and white and a grey..

And always yellow because I can't stand the other colours..

The horses wear hi viz boots at least.. I also have bits for bridle, tail, exercise sheet and neckstrap..

Orange is the most visible. Hence that's what we are given to wear at work for when we have to wander around the track

In winter especially I always wear hi vis. We have orange and yellow. I also sometimes where bright coloured clothes and I have a bright red exercise sheet. One of my horses is almost black and the other is leopard spotted.

Idiotpony is Chestnut and I wear a Yellow Hi-Viz tabard, am looking into getting other bits to add to my collection though.

I believe the orange is more visible but most places I look only seem to do the yellow/pink options and I refuse to do pink. So am on the lookout for orange bits to make him clash horribly

What ever colour I find I've got with me at the time regardless of the horse I'm riding - usually a waistcoat style tabbard.

I purchased velcro hi-vis horse leg bands many years ago - they never saw much use on my horse who was never happy on the roads so we didn't ride them and stayed in the fields, but they are excellent for cycling on a dark night and act as bicycle clips too

Orange waistcoat for me, neon pink boots for the pony (dark bay). I'll probably get an exercise sheet for winter because it can be very dark this far north even at midday.

I only wear hi viz if it's a bit dark/dull/foggy etc. so not at all in the summer.

I don't really hack on proper roads though they are tiny lanes and you don't see much traffic at all.

OP I say the fact that you own a grey horse should make you want to wear even more Hi-viz, it is surprising how unvisible they can be off in the distance on a nice clear summers day let alone a cold foggy morning :O

I wear Hi-viz when I ride and when I lead the youngsters out (ponios are chestnut and grey). I have a garish mix of yellow and pink Hi-viz and I like to have both colours used for maximum eye catch-i-ness.

My youngster is a chestnut few spot Appaloosa (so mostly white), I wear yellow hi viz. I have a quarter sheet for winter, but wear a tabard (or a hi viz air vest when I get around to buying one), hat band and have yellow hi viz lining on her brow band, noseband and breastplate.

I usually only wear a tabard but going to get an exercise sheet now I am riding a dark bay whereas before was a snowy white grey, seems silly but I think the grey was far more visible, plus the roads are busier here.

Bays may blend in better with hedges but greys blend in better with roads, even white ones if it is a grey day .
