Hi viz saved me today and i wasnt even riding!

Went to field to bring my boy in and he was with rest of herd right at top end by fence onto busy ringroad.
As i approached said (very high and no chance of jumping over) fence the horses became very agitated - in the near distance i saw a few police cars approaching with sirens going and flashing lights - my stomach churned as i realised if the horses flipped i had no escape and was in the middle of them!

I looked at first car as it got nearer and he saw me and immediateley turned off his sirens - i just mouthed thank-you.

If i had not been going to ride and been wearing my ordinary yard jacket instead of my hi viz one i doubt hed have seen me and god knows what could have happened
It all happened so fast i would not have got to the fence for safety - i was walking right through the herd

Im really thinking of writing to the local police station to tell them and ask them to thank the driver - he looked straight at me bless him and must have sensed my utter relief

my horses are often grazed beside a roundabout and if there are lorries or cars going extremely fast by it can give them a real scare. it happens so fast that you don't realise until it has happened!

Deffinatly write to them it might make more of their drivers aware too
