Where can I buy one of these online?
Preferably one that says young horse on it, as I have just got a new young pony who has only ever been led on the roads, so thought we should buy one.

Thankyou

Yes I would just get a plain one as the writing hides some of the hi viz effect so defeats the object. Seriously though, I doubt the majority of drivers have time or thought to actually read the wording on hi viz bibs...if they are a**eholes they just drive by oblivious and if they are considerate they will be too busy concentrating on how to best and safely get past you whilst looking ahead for oncoming traffic. Just get as much hi viz on you as possible would be my suggestion...the more you glow...the more they will slow!!!!!!!!!!

The "insurance issue" is a myth that is now even being spread by tack shop staff.
I spoke to my insurance company ages ago about it and their reaction was it was mad. If you were in court and someone was trying to argue that you had been irresponsible riding a young horse on the road, then that argument could apply even if you weren't wearing a tabard. However, if you had warned drivers by wearing a tabard with appropriate wording, it could equally be argued that you were being responsible and the car driver had ignored your helpful info. You could even argue that you were being more responsible than if you had ridden your young horse out without warning drivers.
This was the advice also given by a barrister on the BHS forum before it closed down.

This issue has been brought up quite a few times, such writing does not make you liable, but still best check with your own Insurance Company.

i.e. not at all! I wear my "please pass wide and slow" every time we go out and very rarely does anyone slow down - b*stards!

I took the Young Horse tabbard issue up with my insurers SEIB when first got my horse as so many people on my yard told me not to wear it.

SEIB told me it would not affect a claim and were supportive of me wearing it as long as my horse was also fully tacked up (I suppose there maybe people out there who would ride a young horse on the road in a head collar!).

They also said that a Young Horse tabbard makes the rider less liable than wearing a "Please pass wide and slow" type as you are purely warning drivers and not giving instructions. If you are wearing the latter type of tabbard and an accident happens, you can be held at fault as you have encouraged a driver to pass.

If you want one I have a spare Young Horse tabbard?? I have got a better one!!

Caution, Lady Rider with PMT!

I find drivers slow down to read it even if they wouldn't normally slow down for a horse! Had very positive comments but everyone always knows who I am so no naughty riding where I shouldn't!!
