Since starting my mare on pro hoof she wont touch her dinner.

She has it in a good amount of speedi beet and mirconised linseed with lots of swede but she still wont touch it unless i put chaff with it.

So what would be the best chaff to use or if i could use something else non fattening to hide the taste?

Mine prefers fast fibre to speedibeet on the flavour front, it is easy to mix supplements into and lower calorie than speedibeet if that is what you need. A few hi fibre nuts mixed in will usually do the job if she's being particularly fussy.

I used to use fast fibre but found that it put weight on her. Also tried fibre nuts but she ate those (even though throughly mixed in) and left the rest unless i hold it and then she does eat it.

If she likes high fibre cubes then try soaking them and mixing them in with her feed so she can't pick them out.

Its the pro hoof. Used to wolf her dinner down when it was pro balance. But she still does if chaff is involved.

I will try some nuts tonight. But if i was to go down the chaff route what is the best low calorie good for feet chaff i can get?

I use 400gms quick beet/speedy beet and add a double handful of Dengie non-molassed chaff, lo alfa, this is expensive but tasty, I mix the lot with 80-100 gms micronised linseed, and split in to two feeds per day, add water 15 mins, he licks the bowl.
He gets 30gm pro hoof [pro earth] and 5gms of MgOxide, per day, I cant think he can taste it from his reaction, but I did start off with half that amount and built it up over a week.
I would add some chopped apples or juice for a few days, but also cut it right back for a few days to a minimal amount.
I find the chaff gives it a nice texture, otherwise it is like grey porridge, and I like to provide a variety of fibre sources, this includes a bit of oat straw, I believe, also some herbs.

just the realised the title should be hiding the taste of pro hoof not speedi beet as she eats that no problem! opps.

Did feed some baileys fibre plus nuggests in her dinner tonight and she did eat it but left a bit that had none in but ate if i held it.

Next question do I get some chaff or try the fibre nuggets? possibly soaking them.
But would the chaff last longer than nuggets?

I find a handfull of Happy Hoof seems to mask the taste of most things. I know it is slightly molassed (and that's obviously why they love it) but mine will all eat bute, wormer, anything mixed into it (with or without speedi beet).
