My horse looks at HiFi like I look at Brussel Sprouts

Struggle to get her to eat it even when well mixed in with her mix/nuts. I want her to have the additional fibre and also to stop her bolting her food but she spends the entire time sorting it out and leaving it which is a waste. She's a bit better with Alfa but she is on holiday now and doesn't need it. In desperation I bought some Apple Chaff. OMG

she went mad for it - to the extent she was licking her feed bowl after having a handful yesterday

Her face looked like mine after eating cake

So I am now trying to mix in some HiFi as I have got half a bag to use, then I think I will just relent and give her this stuff. It's clearly full of molasses and I'm not a fan of feeding sugary stuff. Is it really that bad?

Bear in mind that Hi Fi (even the lite) has a coating to make it palatable.
Not sure about the Applechaff but my horse is very sensitive to sugar and is fine with the Marksway Mollichaff range and the coating they use.
He reacts to some of the other chaffs on the market which can be 25% sugar.

I use Mollichaff Herbal which has garlic and mint so is tasty without too much added sugar. The difference I notice is that when I put my hand in the herbal it feels silky rather than sticky.

Thinking about it adding apple to anything will make it more sugary as it's high in natural sugars.
I think if you contacted them Marksway will send out samples for you to try to see if she would eat either the original or the herbal.

Topspec have just started advertising some molasses free chaffs.

I haven't seen it for sale yet, but it does sound worth a look.

A good one is Safe and sound... think its made by dodson and horell?? just plain chaff but it has all types of nuts and others bits mixed it to give it a bit extra. but is pretty much the same as hi fi.

Mine is on good doer as well and it is fortified so he does not needs any extras either - I would say by the way he waves his front legs around when he eats it and how excited he gets when he sees his bucket coming that he likes it!

The good doer is more mollassed than the hi fi lite but the DE is lower than the Hi Fi.
