As some of you know my poor horse is on months of box rest and he's already fed up (been 2 months now I think). I know vet said he should be on box rest with a certain amount of time outside for in-hand walking, however I have been taking him out to grass (in-hand of course) twice daily purely to keep him sane. He's very good about being kept in but its clear he hates it, all he wants is to be outside in the sun. So my idea is to get some high mesh fencing like this:-

The stuff I've seen the council and builders using basically. Does anyone know where I could buy this? My thoughts being to make a "stable" size area of grass for him to be out in during the day or even for an hour or so. I know I dont want him slipping on mud or anything (tendon injury) so I simply wouldnt put him in it if it was wet. I cant simply electric tape off an area as I know he'd just jump out, at least with this high fencing he couldn't! Do people think this is a good or very bad idea??

They are called 'Heras' fencing so google that or search for them on eBay, there are usually some available, nb there are slightly different fixings for those with curved or flat tops so try to buy them WITH the connectors and feet rather than try to find them afterwards.
I would only use them for horses if there was (i) something in the pen for them to use as a scratching post which they will prefer to the fence and (ii) if I could get the rubber footed ones or rubber covered feet ones. I would also cable tie the sections tightly together as well as use the connectors.

Yep that used these to make laminitics roundpens .... As above, I tied mine closely together and now it stands in its own right and has done so for many years. I made a gate for mine ..... only use for ponies though

just a word of warning- heras fencing often has loose bits of wire or very sharp edges which could cause serious damage to skin if rubbed
