as title says really, we may have the chance of gettin a beautiful blue roan welsh colt, we would keep him entire to breed with just plainly cause he is the sweetest thing ( not definate tho) just wondering if highland X welshes was a good mix?? since as you kno poppy might be put in foal next year, it would obviously not be to this wee man but would it be a good foal with like a section D
 
I think you would be breeding a tank TBH, either Welsh or Highland will cross well with lighter breeds like TBs or even Arabs, but I wouldn't cross two heavier natives.

Whatever you decide the general rule of thumb is to breed blood to bone, so your mare should be the chunkier of the pairing.

I would keep your colt (if he is well bred and you decide he is too good to cut) to breed with other Welsh mares - a lot would hang on what he develps in to though.
 
Just think about it, have it gelded.
As for the cross echo the above,Natives need breeding to something of the sme breed, or put to something of more quality ie Arab or TB.
