i just wanted to tell everyone how good Gillies Horse Transport are and to recommend that if you need to ship your horse from one end of the country to the other that you only use these guys !
i had to find my precious horse a new home (due to various reasons) and managed to find him absolute paradise with a lovely lady called Lyn. unfortunatley she lives in NE Scotland and i live in SE England.
Gillies collected my horse on wednesday morning, travelled him to Kelso, stabled him overnight then reloaded him and took him to Lyn on thursday. he has never been on a lorry before and has never been travelled for more than 2hrs. they were brilliant, he turned up totally calm, not a bead of sweat, not a hair out of place. they monitored him all night in his stable and on the lorry. drivers were so nice and complete professionals. they kept me upto date with his progress and health.
so a huge thankyou to them and to Lyn.

I will second that , although I have not used them for 10 years or so, but when I lived in Northumberland my boss used them alot for any new hunt horses we got and I used them twice to get horses for myself up from the south, reasonable prices and the drivers are always really good

I third that!! My horse came from Kelso and was brought down with them. He stayed overnight at Ascot and arrived in the most enormous box but travelled incredibly well and they were lovely. The driver knows my OH's family very well from transporting their racehorses and broodmares round the country but even so. They are brilliant.

Another vote, lovely HHO people recommended them to me when the only horse we could find was in Scotland.

They collected Farra from Kenmore in Perthshire on Friday morning and she arrived in Essex Tuesday morning.

Lorry was 5* accommodation and she was relaxed and no signs of sweat or stress. They kept me updated of where she was and how she was doing.

Cost was far cheaper than had I done it myself and she got to travel the long journey with other horses.

Would not hesitate to recommend them to people.

My Highland travelled from Scotland to Yorkshire with Gillies and I was pleased with the service. Nelly came down the ramp of an enormously luxurious lorry and everyone laughed to see such a little hairy pony emerge from such palatial transport

I also have found them really good.
They are collecting my barely handled new purchase next Wednesday, a yearling Highland from Southern England and bringing him up to Northumberland.
The service is second to none.

I also found them excellent when bringing my then 3yo Arab from Aberdeenshire to the Borders. He'd hardly been in a lorry before and certainly not for a journey that long - he arrived in fine fettle and was reluctant to leave his haynet when the ramp dropped! The lorry did make him look tiny though...

They are fab - used them a few times over the years. I want want want want NEED one of their Oakleys!

I'm always amazed that their prices seem reasonable too - although haven't used them in the last year, since fuel went stratospheric

Just wanted to agree with all the posts saying how great Gillies are !!!!Whoo Hoo , Gillies are the best transporters.
Their lorries are brill, The drivers are great , and their prices are very reasonable too .

I too found the woman slightly rude on the phone, But putting her aside i could not fault the lorrys (how much would i like one of them) and the drivers (So friendly),

I will be useing them for the 3rd time when they deliver NEW horse to me on the 19th.

I also agree......They are a very good company.
Transported a youngster of mine up to Scotland and back 3 times. They were very very professional.
The older lady i dealt with was really friendly.
I would definately use them again.
