I posted about a week and a half ago about my horse's hind lamness. He had the vet out and said that it was fluid on the hocks and to have nerve blocks and x-rays. He's not insured so i put him on bute for a week to see how he went.
I was asking in the thread if i was doing the right thing and if anyone else had a similar experience.
So an update. I started him on bute a week last Saturday. He seemed to get a bit better, just trotting slightly short. But it got to a point last Friday where he didn't improve on that even on bute, so i rang another vet who was recommended for a second opinion and was kind of freelance so was cheaper.
I took him this morning (Tues) so that all the bute would be out of his system. The vet saw him trot up and down, did flexion tests (which the other vet did not do), on the lunge (hard ground and in school) and the bloody git wasn't lame anymore.
It's great that he's sound again but he waited until i took him there. And still don't know what was wrong with him so mustn't have been that serious.
Flipping horses, they do like making you look like a right twit.
