Mare was lame on right hind on Friday - not hopping but clearly uncomfortable (maybe 2/10ths lame). Check of legs etc and I found a lump/bump just off centre of hind cannon (just under hock). Soft and only about an inch wide. Rested, stabled, cold hosed and ice booted over weekend. Vet out yesterday and not hugely concerned as hock normal, no pain on palpating and bump on front of hind - lameness improved. Believe we have a common digital extensor tendon niggle that should heal relatively quickly. More of the same for next week and if improved, can bring her back to work slowly. Anyone experienced something similar - in particular length of time to get back working normally?
