After scan at the weekend, vets prognosis is "cautiously optimistic" re my horse's recovery from hind suspensory branch damage 5 months ago. The ligament generally looks a lot better, but there is still a small lesion- 0.19 x 9mm, 6% of the ligament diameter. There were signs of fibres starting to form, so hopefully it will continue to heal (originally there were multiple lesions).
Vet advised ridden walk for 4 weeks, starting at 30 mins, building up to 1 hour.
I cant hack out on my own, but will be a couple of times a week in company. The other days she said its fine to exercise in the menage. I'm sticking to the edge (no circles), straight changes of rein, and walk/ halt transitions. Also putting a pole or two out for her to step over.
Anyone who has been in a similar boat, is there anything else i could be doing in the menage during the walk phase?
(Treatment history- PRP end of Oct followed by 2 months box rest & hand walking- she went crazy on box rest, and nearly killed herself and me, so she's been on full turnout since end of December)
