Hind suspensory tear - any full recovery’s?

I am sorry you are facing this, my run in with this injury was disastrous I do know one horse who has gone on well to perform at a decent level but that’s the only one I know lots of people with my experience.

I’ve had two horses with suspensory damage and both recovered to normal.
not sure they were actual tears though 🤔
Neither were obviously lame but both had performance issues which weren’t normal for that horse.
The first horse was field rested for a couple of months or so and slowly brought back into work. The second I continued riding out but just in walk all summer.

We’re these in their hind legs?
she’s exactly the same, very swingy in her walk to watch but apart from that she just feels off under saddle. If all I did was hack I honestly don’t think we’d have noticed

Yes both in the hind legs.
I noticed both jumping. One just wasn’t making the distances, and he was a little springy athletic horse.
the other is still doing x- poles but wouldn’t turn right and had issues over a pole in the ground.
I wouldn’t have noticed if I was hacking I don’t think 🤔

I'm afraid that my experiences of hind suspensory injuries are the same as GS's, including the personal one.

Yes mine made a full recovery 😁 he was age 6 proximal tear of the ligament hind leg plus suspensory was plus 70% larger because of swelling. Vet was very very guarded about a recovery but he came 100% sound and after recovery vet said on his scans on both hinds another vet would never know he had done it as they both looked identical. We had a few sessions of lazer therapy, box rest, hand walks. I used magnetic wraps on his hind legs and also gave him some homeopathic remedies which cost about £11 a month - arnica. Ruta grav and rusta tor ? From memory. Horse has stayed sound since although I had to retire him aged 12 due to neurological issues. Don’t give up 🤞

Laser therapy 👍

My field ornament had a tear up by her hock. She has other issues too but that was the one I couldn't sort. She's field sound but if they have a gallop round it gets warm. She'd probably be ok for hacking but she wasn't the most reliable solo hacker and her muscle issues mean she needs regular work so retirement made sense.

Sorry.
