Please can someone give me some advise! I have been told that there is a slight chance that I might need a new hip. Still waiting on results! Will I be able to ride afterwards!!!!

I'm not sure how long it takes or if there are any problems, but the owner of my loan horse had a hip replacement after a car accident and it hadn't stop her riding, the horse is slightly one sided, in that she's very sensitive to the leg more on the left than the right, but nothing major.

Havent had one but know people that have. you will be like new once you have recovered

I had a hip repair, back in july, and will need a replacement in time, I'm only 26 so they wont give me a replacement yet
I was in hospital overnight, For a replacement will be 3-7 days
I was on crutches partially weight bearing for 6-8 weeks, weaned off by 8 weeks, but after week 2 I could get around quite well.
You'll have 3 months of physio, over 3 stages, which will get you fit enough at 3 months to think about getting back on board.
My friend who had a replacement Oct 08, waited til she was at 6 months before she got back on board, but I was on at 3 months, not regularly til now as had a bit of ligament damage that needed extra physio

You'll need to tell your surgeon that you ride, as that influenced the type of replacement my friend had. And the physio. She had a big ball ? so she has a good range of movement, she says its better then her own hip ever was. The physio signed me off at 6 weeks, but as I rode the surgeon wanted me to have the full 3 months, to get the full benifit, so he sent me back

Its nothing to worry about, but if you want to chat / more info at what I could and couldnt do, feel free to PM / email me
