hire microchip reader

when i bought one of my youngsters at the start of 2010 it was a few days after he arrived that i was looking at the pics i had taken of him in the snow, whilst adding his pedigree onto an online database and BAM - it hit me - the description and pic in his passport said both hind legs had socks.... the horse infront of me only had 1!
it was when we had all of the bad snow but i was desperate to know if i had been 'had' by the seller. I asked a local cat rescue centre if i could borrow theirs for an hour or two. I had to leave them a deposit for £100 which was the approx value of the scanner, off it went to scan him - i must have scanned him 40 odd times until i found his chip - YEP - it matched!!!
i went back to the cat rescue very happy, got my deposit back and gave them a £20 donation :-)

Its def worth asking some local animal rescue centres if you can borrow theirs for a deposit/donation :-)
