Due to various changes in circumstances and lack of money I no longer have a towing vehicle and trailer, and whilst I have the option of going to shows with friends, my horse is a bit fragile in a trailer and has to be driven like a complete granny or he arrives in a state. It's always been fine when I tow him as I just go ultra steady but after a couple of trips out with other people driving recently its no longer an option as people just don't listen to me or are not prepared to drive more steadily. :(

So, I've resigned myself to having to hire and have worked out its cheaper to hire a 3.5t box for the day than it is to hire a tow car and trailer.

There are a couple of outfits near us renting them out (Oxfordshire), has anyone any experience of doing this? I've never used those small boxes before but wonder if my boy might actually be happier rear facing as he scrubs his bum terribly in a forward facing trailer.

It means I won't be able to compete as much as I have done in the past but I can afford 3-4 times a year hiring a box and luckily my boy is the sort that doesn't get phased if he doesn't get out for a few months, he's always pretty laid back about it.

Many thanks,
