Hi :)
I have a Transit horsebox with an Iforwilliams back on.
A friend of mine has one the same and she has been hiring it out during the week for £250 a day!
It is being used by a removals company, so no horses are going in it, they are just using it to get to places they can not get in to with the big lorrys.

They asked me if I would be prepared to hire mine to them also as they have some youger guys working for them who can only drive the smaller lorrys.

I thought it was a great idea but hubby told me to phone my insurance company first and they said I am definitely not covered for 'hire or reward'.

The removals guy said it would be fine as his insurance will cover everything and he would pay for any smaller scratches or dents themselves.

My friend does not really know anything about the insurance or legal side of things but OH thinks it's a bit risky if anything should happen or the lorry gets stolen when they are using it or something?

Any advice?

I'm with your other half on this one I'm afraid. Your insurance company has definitely said you're not covered for hire and reward, so they definitely wouldn't pay out if anything happened to your lorry. As for the removal company's insurers, well, I'm pretty sure they'd find a way to wriggle out of any payment.

£250 a day sounds tempting, but I'd steer clear. I'd also be asking myself if the removal company needs to hire two vans at that amount of money per day, why don't they buy their own small truck?
