I have an 8 yr old German shepherd who I have had since he was 6 weeks - he is my baby, love of my life basically, he is sooo loyal, protective and generally just wonderful and I love him to bits!!!
Beau is also the most cleverest dog I have ever known...I used to own a grooming salon down the road from me that I used to take beau to for his baths occasionally (walk) and now still after 4 or 5 years still pulls away and nearly pulls you over away from there when walking past there!! soo funny! he was taught sit, down, stay, leave, speak, walkies, bath, out, wee, poo, car, cats. and other words soo easily...he really is once in a lifetime dog..he has hip dysplacia and epilepsy but hell do I love that dog!! even when you are talking about him to mum or o/h or anyone else in room he knows you are talking about him without even mentioning his name or 'the dog' etc, and knows when mum is off on holiday and knows when things are happening!! he is also sooo handsome too! a mid coated black and tan. sometimes I think he is human and actually talk to him as if he is one, and he seems to understand every word. when I am upset he comes to comfort me and he would protect me with his life. I love him more than anything in the world..soppy post...anyway cookies and cream to all who has read! x :)

Fantastic when you have this relationship with a dog isn't it! I had it with my first great Dane, she was, and still is the love of my life. I lost her aged 11 while watching the world trade centre bombings as it happened, knowing my brother was there. She sort of coughed then slid onto the floor and went. Worst moment ever! Rob rang half hour later to say he was fine. Weird day!
Give your guy a hug from me for being a best dog!

We have two lab pups both 8 months old and the chocolate boy is the smartest dog I have ever had - he just learns so very quickly it is amazing. I have had labs all my life but he is very different, very clever and very very loving! I am looking forward to seeing how far we can take his training.
