Aarrgghh - I've just about had enough!!

My lovely coloured cob x is a real sweetie, he is very well behaved ...until he gets his rug on....then, like the title said, he becomes invinceable!!

I know he's governed by his stomach, but when he's "naked" he stays where he is put, summer or winter, but as soon as he has a rug on - he just takes the p*** and gets out at every opportunity. Doesn't matter what the fencing, we have a variety from p&r, electric and even the dreaded barbed wire! He's not a very athlectic chap (not when ridden anyway!), but you should see him go - he puts him front legs over the bottom strand and then sort of "shimmies" his body underneath and carefully follows with the hind legs! I'm amazed he's not done himself an injury!

Top posts come off/break too easily and as for electric tape, well that's easy - think I'll have have to wire it to the mains!

He's been out today, took another one with him and decided to churn up y/o lovely back paddock that they manicured for their wedding this year and stopped all over the lawns! They are on holiday and don't know yet - eek!!

Might be the stable 24/7 for the rest of the winter me thinks!!

If you have an opening you lead them back through that is electrified zap him with it!!!Should make him respect it!!!We have to do this with ponies that disrepect the fencing!NO it dosnt stop them coming through the gateway it makes them respect the fence that has been put up in front of the main gate!!

Mine is rugged all year round, but very respectful of electric fencing. I use thin poly wire, with a mains fencer - gives me heart palpitations when I touch it.

Even with a rug on a good wire and a mains fencer will work(Gallagher do one for elephants!)
