Many years ago I remember reading about a horse race (I can't remember if it was flat or steeplechase) being won after the bit or rein broke.....can anyone remember the race, the horse or the jockeys name please??? It could have been as far back as the 50s or 60s.......

Depends which race/horse you are thinking of. Kevin Darley dead-heated for first place on Coastal Bluff in the 1997 Nunthorpe after the bridle broke early in the race . . . .
