My local library hasn't been able to help, so I'm hoping somebody here might know where to point me...

I'm interested in the development of tack over the years, mostly from 1750s onwards, and wondered if anyone could point me to some good books/other resources on the subject?

I get so irritated when I'm poking round National Trust houses and the like, and they have bits of harness and bridles and what-have-you scattered around the place, completely unlabelled or cared for, when the jamjars are dated to the nearest month and locked away from prying fingers!

Ooh, interesting, thanks!

however it does seem to skate over the period you are interested in!

Sadly, most histories do! Very frustrating! I came across one site discussing sidesaddle in Regency-era, but it was a Regency-focused site, not tack-focused, so I have no idea how accurate it was.
