Wish I could post this in the local paper in Hampshire as posting it on here is no good but for goodness sake, if you hit them and we all appreciate you may not have speeding and they may have run out in the dark across the road in front of you but for their sake, JUST NOTIFY SOMEONE ON THE FOREST IMMEDIATELY so the poor horses don't suffer for days or overnight with these injuries. Why can't people just make an anonymous call to the police/council contact/verderers/RSPCA just so someone knows there's a horse needing to be PTS urgently?! I just hope someone comes forward with information and they get the culprits but I doubt it somehow. Made me so angry reading this news story. And breathe..

Totally agree!! I hit a pheasant the other day and I still keep thinking about it, poor thing! Would be beside myself if i hit a pony!

It makes me spitting mad every time i drive across the forest.
We went to the sales last month, and i always, always drive within the 40mph limit, but i was overtaken on numerous ocasions.
I actually shouted at one driver as he overtook me, i still managed to catch him up wi'll still driving within the limit, but he sped pst four or five more cars before i could get my daughter to get his number.
Poor, poor ponies, it makes me sick!!!

I just read the article and thought exactly the same thing.

Why can't these drivers just let the Police know what has happened and where, even if they don't have the b*lls to admit they hit the pony.

Whenever I have been driving through it, I've had other cars fly past me, no respect for anyone else on the road or what might be going across the road (animals) etc.
Very hard to stop them I'm afraid, it's the norm these days, Oz

It is the headline on todays Southern Daily Echo "Ponies Death Probe" and they have the story on most of page 5. However there is no mention on the papers website in the news section. I drive across the Forest daily and I am overtaken several times by numpties speeding past the livestock. There are so many beautiful new foals and calves that stand at the edge or in the roads and I fear this will not be the last we hear of this carnage. There are weekly reports on here http://www.nfed.co.uk/index2.htm perhaps they should publish them in the local paper on the front page.
