My boy keeps breaking out into what i’m assuming is hives? He wears a fly rug, mask and boots but I had to take them off due to the thunderstorms we’ve just had. Could it just be a reaction to the flys again or something else? What do people use to try and treat this? Thank you :)

Mine keeps doing it this year, I've had him 10yrs and although his is sensitive don't normally have an issue, and haven't changed anything. Seems to be worse when it's extra hot and if we have a shower during the heat so not sure if it's humidity?

I have put him on antihistamine bought online which are helping, it almost cleared up until a small outbreak today 🙄.

However it's been wet agai so maybe that? I am starti g to wonder if there could be a fungal element

I might try him with a fungal shampoo! I’ve resorted to a rain rug currently so he’s not weighed down by a soaking fly rug

Mine had it a few times, from alfalfa, swede, it can be anything thats changed or something growing in field seasonally. Can be treated with injection from vet but won't give if laminitis risk. I used NAF D-Tox in feed was brilliant

My 2 year old has had hives this year. Had the vet out and gave steroid injection. Hives went away but then returned. Now the weather is a bit cooler, they are going down again so I guess it's the heat.
