Hmm may need to rethink the feed - pure feeds question?

Roo had A&P ride and relax with AlfaA, and balancer all last year and had nice levels of energy on that, not lazy but not overly buzzy either. However the major downside is that because it needs soaking (or at least a good dampening before feeding) it would freeze outside overnight in his breakfast and if I wasn't first up to tip a thermos of warm water in, he'd get a horrid icy breakfast! So about a month ago I swapped him onto staypower which is what my Arab has. However I think it's giving him a bit too much energy, he was behaving like he had been fed rocket fuel this morning which is most unlike him!! He's in overnight now currently with about 3-4 sections of hay but as of next week we will be back on haylage so I need to knock this excess energy on the head now.
Thinking about trying pure feeds - it's all about time and labour saving this year ;) with wood pellets, auto drinkers etc! But has anyone found the pure easy to make horse's too hyper or am I pretty safe with that one? If he does well on it may swap J onto the pure working then if have requirement for more energy can give too a bit of that too!

I have arabs and thoroyghbreds and feed easy and condition depending on work and weight. I must say that none of them have been silly even an ex racer on box rest stayed in condition to keep his weight up and stayed reasonably sane

Hi

I currently have my horse on Pure Working, and its brillant. My horse can be rather, well spooky and to know that she is being fed something that is going to keep her a bit more level headed is brillaint, I would give it a go if i was you, and it is also very easy to use, as its all ready pre mixed :O)

try speaking to Becky at Rowan Barbary Feeds, part of Target Feeds, and no this is not an advert for them. I live in Northern Ireland and whenever I am over in Great Britain try and but and bring home as many bags of their mash feedfor my rescue ponies.....it is extremely good and also they seem to make feeds for every type of equine. They do have a Face Book page now. Becky seems to be bringing them "kicking and screaming" into the internet age!!!!
