I would firstly like to thank those of you who replied to my post yesterday with all your useful advice, experiences and support in relation to the below -

So i shall continue with the saga of the holly bush pole!!!
I came down pretty early this morning armed with the useful little print out that Cattie provided a link too, and also a few ideas re schooling, grids and apex jumps.
So this is how the conversation went -
Me 'How did your jumping lesson go last night'
A 'He was really good thanks'
Me 'So no need to use that pole then...?'
A 'No, I don't think we will, trainer told us to work on our flatwork. It seems to be more rider error than the horse so we have a few exercises to do now.'
Me 'Well thats great, (gave her the print out) I came across this if you want it has some really useful advice for horses with dangly legs.'
A 'Ah, Thanks very much'
Me 'I've gave some thought on that pole and to be honest i think you'll scare him if you use it, he'll just start associating pain with jumping and start stopping.'
A 'Thats true, the trainer wasn't keen on it either.'
So later on in the day A and I went into the field untied the holly and put the pole into a grid with a couple of apex jumps one going into the grid and another coming out.
I also left the BE book I have open and page folded which informs you of banned practices. Maybe she'll pick it up in the tack room and have a read.
To say how relieved I am that the bloody holly pole is gone is an understatement. (If i had a smiley to run around the screen and cheer I'd use it!!!) At least it seems to be a happy ending i hope, i am still advocating my jumping instructor to her because I still think she would help them alot!! I hope they don't get any more hair-brained ideas...but guessing from recent events they probably will!!!
But next time i think i should go with my gut feeling that it is wrong and simply state that to them instead of pussy footing around the issue. Which i think i have done in this instance.
I know alot of you on here would confront someone like this, but I'm not very good at that so I just need to be firm in my opinion i guess.
Thank you again xx
