Been planning for months to enter a show and now it's a week before and I'm not sure!

There's some reasonably large show being held at the livery yard where I keep my horse - all four arenas have been hired for the event and there's 60+ classes on! o.o It's not being run by people from our yard or anything, so isn't just for liveries, and I think judging by what I've heard it is probably bigger than most shows I've ever been too...plus...
I don't do showing!!!

However, as well as a load of in-hand, mountain and moorland and other random classes, they have equitation

and I have done umm... one equitation class before... heh (though didn't come last! 2nd out of four, and the girl who won did ride amazingly and looked like she'd done a fair bit of showing before xD)

Buuut.... there's pretty good prize money on offer if I *do* manage to stay on the horse, I don't have to travel anywhere, and he could use the experience as he's only just 5, and we can't ride that day unless we're competing anyway! And the entry isn't too expensive either :P

Should I just be brave and enter anyway?! Just scared I'm going to look ridiculously bad and my horse is going to act like a prat! xD It's not like I've got anything to lose? :/

Definitely go for it.

You have nothing to lose, as you said: worst case scenario, you look a bit silly in front of a load of people you'll either never see again, or who have seen you ride before so already know you're normally good. Best case scenario: you win a load of moneeeyyy!

Well, some of them might see me again

Would actually be more confident if my friend was still certain she was riding in the same class (even though she'd probably beat me! xD) as at least it's someone else I know...

Money is definitely a major +point!!

Next problem...
I only have a grey jacket? Always done unaffiliated jumping/dressage in it and nobody complains?
And for a ridden show umm... last time I kind of copied the rider before me! xD Something like rode up to the judge, then rode straight away from the judge and turned left (in trot) then changed the rein across diagonal, canter on the right rein along the 'short side' (of my imaginary arena) and across the diagonal, with a simple change on the corner, cross the diagonal again in canter and down the 'long side' then into trot and coming across to X, halt and last time everyone else saluted so I just did too?!
Don't want it to be too long but still show enough? Should it be longer? shorter? Should I show anything else like rein back? :/

And am I ok doing it in my dressage saddle do you think or should I use my jumping saddle?!

I'm an idiot, I know

I can't help it

Ok

Will be sure to let you all know - whether I actually get placed or even if I provide some entertainment for everyone!

(thinking I should have someone video this after our spectacular fall last weekend! xD)
