i have been wondering recently - if almost all dry food these days are complete feeds, why do so many people feed tin meat? by adding tin meat to a complete feed you are upsetting the balance, and it seems the majority of people feed this combination.

thoughts?

I feed both. They get meat in the evening and kibble for breakfast. When my old girl was still with us, she needed additional food as was losing weight due to her illness, so I tended to always have kibble out - downside was the other two piggies ate it too and are a bit overweight! She passed away at Christmas, so I have stopped the free access to kibble and just give it for breakfast. They both seem to thrive on this combination - they are a JRTxDaxi and a Miniature Pinscher.

'Complete' doesn't actually mean anything with a lot of dry foods, it's just a word on a bag. Mostly grain with a tiny meat content in a lot of cases! There is very little 'balance' in dry food.
I feed a fish-based dry food for training/convenience and raw for actual health benefits.

We have fed out dogs dry complete food for years and years but new pup was a bit weak and poorly and just stopped eating. I gave him tinned food to try and tempt him and we haven't looked back. He's thriving and the vets said what ever I've changed has done wonders so I'm going to continue.
