Seen an in foal pony mare on FB and although sounded a bit too good I think the story was plausible. When I asked a few more questions I was given the number of the girl who has it now. I have googled her and found nothing pleasing and so rung her anyway to be told a diff version of events than on FB??? Thing is its pretty cheap and I was going to make an offer but now been put off by her rep otherwise I don't think I would be having these doubts........

Plausible reason for being cheap is that it is an in-foal pony mare? Wouldn't be put off by the owner necessarily... what do you want it for?

I really like the mare - not particularly bothered about the foal but hey whats 1 more baby in the herd??!!!
I want the mare to jump but as she is in foal as an 8yo I wonder why?? They have also exaggerated on its jumping ability I think (jumped 1.50 oxer and 1.70 vertical?) but why bother?

hmm sounds rather unlikely...but if shes cheap and you have the room and theres a small chance she can do what you want why not? As long as you can find a nice home for the foal and be prepared to resell mare if not up to your hopes. Just please think of the exit plan if it goes wrong before committing. The mare and foal deserve a good chance in life.

Most people exaggerate there horses skills..its the ones people dont know have skills that go on to be winners, they are the best bargains.

Well I did think its just like buying from the sales really which is where my other little jumping mare came from as an unbacked 4yo - she could quite easily have been mental!!!
The foal isnt really a problem as once weaned can live with the 2yos and my little companion gelding - might even come in useful as a friend to 2013s foal if it comes out as something I like the look of.
I think I would have been ok with this woman selling it but turns out she is also the one who originally imported it from Ireland for 'a lot of money'!!
