Hock boots for 24/7 turnout

Is there such a thing?
I got an ex racer 5 weeks ago, he has marks and lumps on inside of hocks from racing, he stands constantly kicking out when eating....tonight he has come in lame and with 2 cuts which look consistent with him having kicked himself.
So I was wondering if a pair of hock boots would help protect the area 😖

Why does he kick out? Is it habit or is his skin itchy?

As above, you need to solve the original problem really and figure out why he's doing it

agree with finding out why his kicking like that it's not normal, I wouldn't leave any kind of leg boot on for 24-7 turnout.

Head lad at yard he was on said he’s always done it, he’s a real grump around food, so is left to eat in peace but he still does it.

If he only does it when fed then put them on before you feed him but I’m afraid I would be wondering why an ex racer is grumpy when eating - ulcers probably!

I've got the padded version of these for stable use, and they're great. These unpadded ones are allegedly suitable for exercise and turnout, but I can't see that any hock boot could be left on 24/7.
