Long time horse owner first time cob owner! My cob is hogged with feathers off. He lives out 24/7 and is in light work. We will be doing the odd hunt starting from this weekend. What do hogged cob owners do in winter if living out? Should I just leave him hairy but still hog him? I would ideally like to trim his feathers off too as they are at an awkward half grown out stage and don't want him to look scruffy for hunting. Any tips would be much appreciated:)

Hog, trim legs and clip according to work, then rug appropriately, he may not require a full clip but will probably benefit from some off if you are working him fairly hard to get fit for hunting, I normally start with a high trace or chaser clip and see how it goes.
