Hogging a Shetland’s mane

I’ve had my little black 3yo Shetland for 2 months now and she is extremely itchy and uncomfortable, so much so she doesn’t even like a brush anymore…
My plan was to clip her this week to stop the itchy, bald patches, dandruff and uncomfortableness.
Her mane is also scraggly and different lengths due to itching herself excessively.
Before we bought her she was living on a fell all year round in Cumbria whereas now she’s in a field with access to a stable 24/7.
Should I remove my Shetland mane as well as her coat to help with this problem?

Second the above. Good wash, check for lice, I like aloe vera to sooth the skin. Taking off the mane and coat will expose the skin even more to what is irritating it. Sometimes they rub during a coat change to get rid of the dead hair when there is no mud to pull it out.

She definitely doesn't have lice or mites?
Doesn't look like sweet itch. Was she fine till she moved to you?
What have you treated the itching with so far?
I really wouldn't remove the mane unless you absolutely have to as it provides protection all year round.

This is my thinking too, doesn’t look like sweet itch… I can’t see anything living on her but I’m giving her a thorough wash tonight with some special wash to help with itching.
On the bald patches I have put MSM cream on it to help soothe and grow the hair back so far!

Doesn’t look like sweet itch. What are you feeding her? Could be a reaction to alfalfa or sugar.
She gets 1/4 scoop of Top Spec TopChop Lite just to get the regumate she’s on into her, it’s a tiny portion but it does contain alfalfa. Apart from that the only other thing she gets is a Horselyx.
Where she was bred/where we bought her from she just lived off the fell so had nothing extra!

I’d be tempted to remove the feed containing alfalfa and the sugar from her diet and see if that helps. Try adding some brewers yeast, that helped my itchy fell!

I'd be treating with diluted Deosect, sponge applying very carefully, especially avoiding anywhere that the skin is broken.
Remove the alfalfa too.
Put off clipping till you've done a couple of treatments
