I bought a nice saddle a while back for breaking my youngster. I think it is english made and has Holberg Olympic stamped on the flap with a number (will look up the number later). someone said it may be a crosby but the studs do not have any markings or maker name. It was pretty hard to read the writing on the flap as it is well worn. anyone any ideas? Havent got a decent pic at the moment but will try and get one too.

I haven't seen or heard of a Holburg for years! We had some at the riding school and they were well made, the last word in comfort back then which was the late 60's, I can't remember seeing any others ever since.

Ha maybe thats why its so difficult to find anything about them! Didnt have a chance to look at the proper stamps so will do later. I saw it advertised as an ideal breaking saddle and am so hoping my boy doesnt grow out of it, though I reckon he will :( the only thing ive found is the flaps are quite short so my legs look a tennsy bil silly as my knees are nowhere near in the right place but i love the saddle!

Here is the saddle. As you can see, no markings on the studs or anything.

Yes, that's them! Ours used to have Holberg stamped into the leather underskirt.

Good to know someones knows of them! Its has olympic holberg but no other mark except the number and that is all so faint to read that it took me ages to decipher! I had not ridden much in it as my boy has only just been backed but it is comfy and obviously well made. I love the older english saddles compared to what they make nowadays. im a traditionalist! lol.

Lol, the funny thing about the numbers is we had a batch in numeric order, boss must have bought a job lot; they had been there a while and then we had just 3 stolen from 6 of them; a few months later a local amateur would-be showjumper turns up at livery with us - and brings 2 of these saddles with them! As they were very big friends with the then slime ball manager it wasn't too hard to see how they had got them!

Some people need shooting! Did you get the saddles back?! Or are you about to tell me this was one? lol

Lol, that would be funny if it was! Might well be but I can't remember those numbers now, you're quite safe and think it was the push the boss needed to get rid of the manager but I left there as it all kicked off so can't say for sure what happened with them.
