Ok I am going to give Holdenby a go and see if I can get in the Open Pre Novice, as they do not have many entry's and the Ballott date is tomorrow

I have not been able to get in to other events 5 times now!!!

So this will be my first BE Event, does the course ride nice??

I did MK last weekend and did the Pre Novice course with some of the Novice fences, will it be the same sort of fences??

Never been to Holdenby before! Well I still may not! will know tomorrow

Sorry can't help, but as it isn't that far from us might be tempted to come along for a look. Assuming spectators are allowed?

Last time I went

Dressage on top of a hill (not great if horses get excited)

Show Jumping on side of hill (Ok)

XC was good but undulating, there was no water last time I went but that was a few years ago I may add

Echo Bella.
Winston won there.
Dressage on top of a hill, sj on the side of a hill, undulating xc more hunter trial like. But im talking back in 2003! havent been back since.

Still the same (was last year) and no water complex.

it was my big lad's second PN in 2002, haven't been back since then. it was pretty straightforward, nothing horrible at all, old dark-creosoted fences, nice and wide, lots to aim at on a spooky youngster! the only hairy moment we had was a sort-of tiny coffin thing... iirc a little log or something, down a little slop in dark trees, over a little ditch, back up again a few strides and over another little fence. fine as long as they trust you and keep going, cos all the fences were small, but my lad overdid it a bit cos he thought there must be a dragon hiding in the ditch and jumped it as if it was 8' high, nearly hitting the tree above! everyone gasped (including me). so, as long as your horse isn't brainless like mine, it's all pretty nice and fine!
have a good time!

Its a lovely old fashioned horse trials, they even have home made cakes for sale!!! I'm going too as its only 5mins from the yard. Sj is inflencial due to the terrain but XC is fine as long as your horse is fit as it is hilly!
