My rising 5yo curled his lip up yesterday, displaying (to my horror) what seems to be a black hole in his gum above his front teeth. I've owned him since he was a yearling - he's always had his teeth regularly done (most recently 2 months ago) and nobody has ever noticed this. He's been fine to ride, doesn't seem particularly bothered by it. His only slight issue has been that he raises his head when his bridle is taken off (which we thought might be in connection to a blind wolf tooth he has) but the vet advised it was just him being babyish. He sometimes tosses his head, but only when playing with my other horse or when he sees me coming to get him in from the field so I don't think its related. The vet will be seeing him later this week, but has anybody seen this and how did you treat it? I'm 99% sure it isn't just pigmentation as it seems indented - though he won't really let me get close enough to check properly).
Apologies for the bad quality photos - it was a nightmare trying to take them.
