Hole in Hooof ??

Just noticed tonite my horse has a hole on the outside of his front hoof it is quite high up near the coronary band but there is no heat or a pulse and he is not lame on it ?? Am going to call the farrier tomorrow to see what he thinks but does anyone else have any ideas??
Also he is always out in overreach boots so not sure how it could have been self inflicted ?

Might be where an abscess has burst out the coronary band and the hole is now growing down the wall?

Ahha yes he had an abcess that came out of the coronary band just before christmas !! Thanks prob saved me a vet bill
