I'm looking for a reasonably priced riding holiday for 3-4 days in Southern Europe/Western Europe in April. Any ideas?? Help, I don't know where to start looking!

There are usually some advertised in the back of the horsey magazines, or id just google it!
Id love to go on a riding holiday but my other half wouldn't want to do it.

I went with in the saddle and couldn't fault the service. They aren't cheap but it was worth paying for the peace of mind. I went to Andalucia and we rode spanish horses, it was gorgeous. The place we stayed at was near tarifa and the yard was called Dos Mares, they don't work with in the saddle any more but do still do riding breaks so you could try contacting them direct, they were based at a beach front hotel.

Thanks everyone, specific advice and recommendations are useful as google just throws up a gazillion results, and who knows how many dodgy operators are out there!

Have you tried looking at Far and Ride? They run AMAZING horse riding holidays all over the world (lots in Europe as well) with budget options as well as more luxury holidays.
I've already booked my second holiday with them and would recomend them 100%! They are very helpful and Sue, Holly and Sarah (who run the company) are happy to help tailor make any programme you like, so I would definately email them and they can advise you on suitable options. I really can't recomend them enough!
You can also check out their facebook page which has loads of lovely pictures :)

Happy holidays!

Equestrian Escapes is a good company. I know their UK holidays are good quality, although I don't know so much about their European ones.

Heya,
Can I reccommend La Fiaba in Tuscany, Italy? (google it, I don't know if I can post a link, sorry)

The scenery and surrounding area is just beautiful:

(These are all taken within a 5 min walk of the yard, and the further into the countryside you explore, the better the views etc get!)

The people are amazing, the horses are well looked after and still brilliant fun to ride, I rode several, ( they have horses for all abilities, from tiny children to have a sit on, to competition riders who want to gallop through the olive groves and vinyards of the area) and best of all, they have various offers on throughout the year, so check that out :)

I had an absolutely amazing experience out there, so much so that I am going back this summer!

If you like dressage - quintadoarchino.net Francisco has some great Luso's and its about 45mins from Lisbon. Sylvia Loch used to run clinics there. Been a couple of times.

Los Alamos in Spain. Run by English family. Absolutely fantastic horses - so fit and responsive. The most brilliant time you could wish for. Gorgeous food, great hosts. They do short breaks - you have to go. Loads of their clients go back year after year and some go several times a year. And lots of them have bought horses from them and brought them back to UK after falling in love. Search Los Alamos on Facebook. Can't wait to go back

I always go to Spirit of Exmoor riding holidays and have been every year since 1996.
Everyone is really friendly and the horses are well behaved and forward going.
There is lots of cantering in wide open spaces and on one stretch known as Cheriton Ridge you can gallop for nearly a mile :) how fantastic is that.:)
Their email address is www.spiritofexmoor.com and its well worth a loo
