Well, the 30'c heat is a bit of a hardship when you're galloping racehorses, but other than that, going racing, loving washing rugs, power hosing boxes and weeding the yard with my sun bathing kit on in the afternoons!
My first week back after my summer hols has been pretty easy actually.. Monday, Took the Dude to Newton Abbot where he ran well to be third, though the handicapper has a serious strangle hold on him, poor love is only 15.2hh and he hasn't been moved a pound down in 3 runs now, despite being 4th and 3rd and well beaten (17lgths by the winner) but never the less he still tries his very best and his hurdling was much better. ~Very slick.
Tuesday was a work day for Baby and Storm, preparing Storm for his run the next day and Baby for hers the following Monday. Duder had time out in the cage, scaring all the others in his alien get up to keep the flies off him.. for some reason he is extra tasty! poor petal!
Wednesday was by far the best day.. despite a sodding awful hot trip to Worcester with Storm, and a scary pikie bloke shouting at us to move our trailer out his way, Storm only went and WON by 3 lengths easy! v.impressed. Storm has been a serious problem child, chestnut with four white legs and generally considering himself far too pretty for the hurley burley of racing. He was fitted with visors and has been on NAF GastriAid and In The Pink for a couple of months and it's turned him right around. very pleased for his owners too, they had been soo patient with the ginger rebel!
The rest of the week has involved lots of rug washing, (powerhorse and shampoo out on the yard!)
and a tack room sort out.. chucked lots of stuff out and feeling ready for the season to kick off come September/October time.
Any one else had a summer break and finding work a lot more pleasant than they thought they would!? Or wishing they could still be on hols, soaking up the sun stress free?
