Hi there, A friend and I are looking for a short break in either Exmoor or Cornwall, Our plan is to take the ponies. We would love some great hacking, thinking exmoor here, or lovely beach rides, hence looking in cornwall area, We are based in the Exeter area. We have transport but not sure we want to travel for more than 2 hours. Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, that they could share,. Not bothered about escorted rides as half the fun is being given a map and doing your own thing! Thankies in advance.

We've just moved from North Devon to north Cornwall andcan thoroughly recommend the beach At Westward Ho! to ride on, miles and miles of sand, but you need to time it right for the tides!

We live on the edge of Bodmin Moor and have fab off road riding, plus you can drive down the A 30 to get here. We haven't investigated the beaches yet but there are plenty of them! We're just outside Camelford, message me if you want to know more.

We have found a fantastic B&B&horses place, just on the edge of the Quantocks / Exmoor.

The owners are great and very accommodating, plus there is a lot of riding straight off the yard (with a little road work), or you can transport onto the Quantocks / Exmoor for the day.

We regularly ride 4 to 6 hour hacks, with lots of hill work and some great forests to canter around in.

Thanks for the replies, West Somerset sounds good. If there are any other ideas feel free to let me know, am sure there must be other places around.
