Anyone heard of or got any remdies for small hard lumps on my cobs back. been checked out by the vet he reports that it is quite common not to worry. States he would have to do a biopsy to get the real diagnosis and says it is not worth the trouble. It is not the saddle either. Had a couple of posts in the past regards this. As the vet is not worried about them neither am i but would like to get rid of them just the same.

Can only think of one thing which I have used very successfully on sarcoids, it has worked every time for me. Go to your health food shop and ask them to order Thuja 30c potency - it comes in a cream or in jel form. Cant say that it will work on what sounds like fatty lumps on your cobs back or bites perhaps, but its worth a try. Shouldnt cost you more than £6 per tube. Hope this helps.

Equine nodular skin disease (sweat bumps);
This condition goes under the guise of several names, the simplest of which is sweat bumps, but it is more often refered to as equine nodular skin disease or necrobiosis & rarely, as allergic collagen necrosis. he exact cause is not know but various ideas include allergic-based reactions or a response to microfilariae in the skin. Fibrous lumps of varying size appear under the skin & in particular, seem to appear mainly under the saddle, but can also occur over the shoulder region, flanks, neck & prepuce. The nodules are non-painful & can be up to about 2cm in diameter.
The fibrous nodules are diagnostic of the condition but can occasionally become confused with pressure sores caused by an ill-fitting saddle. If there isany doubt a biopsy can be taken to confirm the diagnosis. In a few cases, the nodules will regress spontaneously, but this is rare & in the majority of affected animals, the nodules will remain. Usually they will not cause problems, other than appearing unsightly. However in some instances the nodules will be in a particular area such as under the saddle & may be uncomfotable & lead to rubbing.
This condition, which is difficult to traet with conventional medicine, often responds well to homeopathy which can act both in a preventative role & in reducing the nodules in size by dissipating the fibrous tissue.

Treatment;
Best results can be achieved by using a trio of remedies;
Silica 30c
Graphites 30c
Thiosinaminum 30c
All three of these remedies help to dissolve scar tissue & should be given over a period of several weeks until the nodules have reduced as far as possible. An ideal regime is to use Silica the first day. Graphites the second & hiosinaminum the third before repeating the trio.

Kali ars or Kali iod 30c (where there is a general tendency to react to insect bites with the skin swellings) are worth considering if these remedies fail to act.
Acetic acid 6c can also help in dissolution of the nodules where they are slow to clear. Dose once daily.
Cenchris 200c should also be considered in cases where the nodules seem to lie in a chain as if following a blood or lymphatic vessel.
This remedy is specific in this instance. Its use can be confirmed if other symptoms such as restlessness, anxiety or tendency to show signs of jealousy are present. Dose once daily for 10 days.

Thanks for the very discriptive post which sums up the problem my cob has almost to a "T". My next question is where do i get the silica and two other herbal remedies you suggest and is it something you put in the horses feed or something that you apply to the affected areas.

You mainly give homeopathic remedies internally treat from the inside. But you can also get them in a cream to apply to the actual area to back them up which is what I usually do with splints & sarcoids & works a treat!!.
I get mine from Crossgates Bioenergetics. You can just google them or I will PM you the number. They do mail order & will post it so that you get it the next day. hey also have a offer on where if you buy 2 you get the 3rd free!!!

Hi,
Just an update on the sweat bumps. i have been treating with Silca Graphites and Thios one of the smaler lumps appears to have gone down but it does not appear to have made much difference to the larger ones. I have been using for about 14 days dont know how long you need to keep treating but i will persevere.
