Holkham Beach...where to stay??

That sounds fun Claire! Which horses are you taking?

I'm hoping to take Cooper to the beach next year. Just need to sell my Fiesta, get a 4x4 and save up for a trailer first though!

Thanks S & M Mum I shall have a look!

Hey Jo! How is the new boy? We're taking Flo, Teazle and Annie, Chief was coming (Zoe's little coloured pony) but she's too busy this month.

That's the problem with horses..........sorting transport.

He's doing well. Should be getting out in the stubble fields for a play soon when the harvesting is done. Am hoping to show him next year as we think that will be his thing. May have a go doing some interdressage in the mean time.

I saw a vid of Lauren riding Alfie. He looks like a sweet boy! Hope you have fun at the beach!

These are the people I ride for, and have done for about 5 years now. I now keep my horse there too, and it's funny how much he (and other horses that stay) love it there. I know you're probably thinking of course I would say this but honestly, my horse is a completely different character - so chilled out and happy!

They are seriously the most lovely people you could ever ask to meet and they would look after you from start to finish. (They also take dogs if need be!)

We stayed at a farm in Burnham Thorpe, which allowed you to sleep in the lorry for I think £10 per person, and it had a few stables or plenty of paddocks if you just wanted grazing. They also do B&B and had a self catering cottage about a mile down the road.

It worked out very reasonable, but it says on its website that it is a 45 minute hack to the beach along farm tracks and bridleways - unless you own Kauto Star, its more like 1hour 15mins although I did do it one day in 45 mins by cantering on every available grassy bit!

However it does mean your horses aren't too fresh when you get there and on the last day when the horses were more tired. we drove the box to Holkham, got a lift back by car and rode back, did the beach, bought a coffee and boxed back to the farm - perfect! There is also a good pub in the village. I can't remember the name of the farm offhand but pm me if you want more details and I will look it up.
